DDD Europe 2024
Workshop: Domain Storytelling
Domain storytelling means that we let experts tell us stories about their tasks. While we listen, we record the stories in visual language. The domain experts can immediately see whether we understand their story or not. After just a few stories, we are able to talk about the people, tasks, tools, work objects and events in the field.
Learning Objectives:
In this workshop we will explore how domain storytelling can help you with different aspects of DDD:
- Crack domain knowledge
- Form a ubiquitous language
- Separate limited contexts
- tactical modelling
You will learn how to adapt the method to different purposes and you will try out different tools. After the workshop, you will be able to apply domain storytelling independently.
For whom:
Domain storytelling is particularly suitable for
- understanding a domain,
- finding a common language between domain experts and IT experts,
- to talk about software requirements,
- and for designing practicable, software-supported business processes.
Domain storytelling transports knowledge from the minds of domain experts to the minds of developers, product owners, product managers and business analysts. Domain storytelling brings these roles together in a workshop in which your domain experts learn from each other and coordinate tasks. Their shared understanding of tasks and business processes is documented as a picture with simple pictograms.
Prerequisites:
No programming knowledge is required for the workshop. It is suitable for people who work as software developers, user experience designers, scrum masters, product owners, product managers, project managers and business analysts.
