Aligning a bank's ABAP-based SAP system for the future with fish bones, storms and onions
As the development bank of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia ,NRW.BANKholds a large number of development loans in the three development areas of "Business", "Housing" and "Infrastructure/Municipalities" .
The SAP-based IDAS system is central to the processing of the entire life cycle of the loans. After many years of successful use of the system, which was largely developed byNRW.BANKitself in ABAP, there is now a great need for modernisation, both professionally and technically. In order to orientate the software towards the future, the project "Future-proof IDAS 2023" was launched.
In this presentation, we will show how we were able to modernise an initial part of the system both professionally (digitalisation) and technically in an initial project using domain-driven design methods, while preserving the wealth of functional logic within the system.
