Domain Storytelling - Understanding Your Users by Drawing Pictures
Misunderstandings between developers and the company are a plague. Poor communication causes projects to fail. This talk will provide a remedy (including a practical demonstration with audience participation).
Domain Storytelling is a technique for translating expertise into effective enterprise software. It brings together domain experts and development teams to: (a) understand the domain of a software system, (b) find the boundaries of microservices, and (c) talk about requirements. We let domain experts tell us stories about their tasks. As we listen, we record the stories in easy-to-understand pictographic language. The subject matter experts can immediately tell if we have understood their story correctly. After just a few stories, we are able to talk about the people, processes and events in the field.
The event is aimed at anyone involved or interested in software development, including non-technical people.
