Modern Traffic Management for the Federal Government
Roll-Out of AutobahnOS starts
The nine traffic centres of the Autobahn GmbH of the federal government will receive a modern operating system that will enable intelligent traffic management in the future. The roll-out of the AutobahnOS is being accompanied by the companies WPS Workplace Solutions, Materna and TraffGo Road, among others.
Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing and Anne Rethmann, Managing Director of Finance at Autobahn GmbH, have now given the go-ahead for the roll-out of the new modular operating system AutobahnOS for the nine traffic centres of Autobahn GmbH.
AutobahnOS was developed on the basis of a modern service-oriented architecture that includes container technology, a Kubernetes platform and open source building blocks. The construction site management MIA, which is based on the well-known ROADS Regio software, was developed by WPS Workplace Solutions. The applications provided by Materna and TraffGo Road include, for example, the network influence NORA and the strategy and corridor management.
Up to now, the individual transport centres have used different operating systems. Uniform nationwide standards are to enable even better, intelligent traffic and roadworks management in future.
Federal Transport Minister Wissing said: "We are launching AutobahnOS with the aim of digitally networking and automating our trunk road infrastructure. The new software will enable the traffic centres of the federal motorway company Autobahn GmbH to manage traffic throughout Germany even more intelligently and efficiently."
