Podcast Rechenzeit - Episode 9
When the Privacy Shield collapsed
The "Privacy Shield" collapsed before the European Court of Justice on 16 July 2020. The agreement between the European Union and the United States was intended to ensure that data can be transferred between the two economic areas in a legally secure manner. Without this shield, data from Europe that is worthy of protection can generally no longer be entrusted to American companies without the threat of legal risks.
We welcome the lawyer Ralf Burmester to Rechenzeit, where he will take us on a journey from the beginnings of data protection to the GDPR and the failed Safe Harbour and Privacy Shield agreements. Based on this, we will discuss the effects and prospects that arise in the B2B and B2C sectors.
