BauWeiser – The digital assistant for civil engineering projects

BauWeiser is a smart web platform for the planning, application and coordination of civil engineering projects. The digital assistant brings together all relevant approval procedures into a single, centralised, end-to-end process, enabling efficient collaboration between public authorities, utility companies, construction firms and other stakeholders.

By digitising administrative processes that were previously fragmented, BauWeiser simplifies the planning of civil engineering projects, reduces processing times and creates greater transparency for all parties involved. The platform is a key component of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg’s digital strategy and supports modern, networked infrastructure planning.

Efficient approval procedures for a modern infrastructure

Civil engineering projects require coordination between numerous stakeholders as well as the obtaining of various permits. Until now, these often had to be applied for individually with different authorities – a time-consuming and complex process.

With BauWeiser, all steps – from utility line enquiries through planning to the excavation permit – are consolidated into a fully digital end-to-end process. Applications can be created, processed and coordinated via a central, georeferenced portal. At the same time, the platform integrates the key specialist procedures and supports users in processing the necessary permits efficiently and seamlessly.

User groups include public authorities, utility operators, construction companies, engineering and planning firms, and other organisations that plan or approve civil engineering works. The shared database speeds up processes, avoids duplication of work and sustainably improves collaboration between all parties involved.

Technical implementation by WPS

As a development partner in the DigITAll project, WPS supported the design and development of key components of BauWeiser, contributing its many years of experience in developing complex specialist procedures for public administration. The focus was on intuitive user guidance, modern web technologies and the seamless integration of various specialist procedures.

This consistently user-centred development approach has resulted in a high-performance web application that presents complex administrative processes in a clear and understandable way and enables efficient collaboration between all parties involved. BauWeiser exemplifies how modern software provides long-term support for the digitalisation of official approval processes and paves the way for an intelligently networked administration.
