Digital Sounding Table

The ships in the Port of Hamburg are getting bigger and bigger, their number is constantly increasing. The Sounding Table supports navigators in planning and monitoring shipping traffic in the Port of Hamburg. It replaces over 200m² of paper charts and thus offers a constantly updated view of the port.

With digital ship models, navigators can simulate ship arrivals and identify potentially dangerous situations in advance. Direct interaction with ship models via multitouch picks up on familiar analogue concepts and makes it easier for navigators to familiarise themselves with the system.
