Dr Sönke Magnussen

Dr Sönke Magnussen studied computer science at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel and received his doctorate in software engineering and programming languages from the University of Lübeck in 2003. Following his doctorate, he moved to Lufthansa, where he held various positions (software developer, IT architect, manager with management responsibility). In these positions, he was involved in the maintenance and further development, architecture projects and operational issues of larger software systems and application landscapes.

Sönke Magnussen has a strong passion for software development and IT architecture. He has a wealth of experience, which he brings to WPS customer projects in various roles - as an IT architect, IT consultant, trainer and project manager. One focus of his work is the transformation of larger systems, landscapes and organisations with the aim of making them future-proof for digitalisation or other major challenges. This usually involves a transformation towards modular IT architectures, cloud technology and DevOps to enable agile customisation of software and more flexible and secure operation of IT systems. Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Domain-Driven Transformation (DDT) often form the foundation for the development of an appropriate IT architecture and the correct structure of the IT organisation.

Sönke has extensive expertise in the field of AI solutions, which he gained through the acquisition of Nanodegree AI from the American online university Udacity in 2017. His many years of experience include involvement in numerous projects in the field of process automation with Robotics Process Automation (RPA), AI for classification problems, natural language processing and the development of chatbots with GenAI. He has also taken on the role of curator for the new iSAQB module SWArch4AI and is responsible for developing the curriculum and WPS's own training for this module.
